About Human Services Federation

Who we are

The Federation is over 26 years old. It has 120 non-profit agency members dedicated to providing quality health and human services in Lincoln and Lancaster County.

Human services are broadly defined by the Human Services Federation as to include all of those community services that provide support and protection for individuals and families ranging from basic needs such as food and shelter to protective and supportive services to recreation, the environment, arts, lifelong learning, caring and spiritual needs.

Mission

The Federation supports its members through education, networking and the power of collective action. We work to continually inform, involve, strengthen and increase the capacity, awareness and effectiveness of nonprofits and the nonprofit sector in our community.

Vision

Lancaster County Nonprofits and Human Service agencies accomplish their missions for a healthy, cooperative and just society.

The Human Services Federation will:

  1. Act as a catalyst to ensure all residents have access to the amenities and services that make Lincoln and Lancaster County a community of opportunity.
  2. Utilize communication and collaboration to turn ideas into action through information, planning, program innovation and advocacy for human needs.
  3. Take a leadership role in community health and human services planning, coordination and advocacy.
  4. Be proactive and responsive to emerging community issues and build collations of individuals and organizations to effectively address identified community needs.-Create and sustain a center for collection, analysis and dissemination of health and human services information for the public.
  5. Enhance civic engagement in community-building activities and public advocacy through programs, training and technical assistance to individuals, organizations, businesses and community-based organizations.
